How To Become A Firefighter

To become a firefighter, you have to eat healthy stuff, get lots of rest and get lots of exercise to be strong.
.
Things that are healthy to eat are oranges, apples, grapes, strawberries and bananas. We should not eat foods with lots of sugar or fat in them. Eating lots of grains will give us energy.
.
We need to be strong and healthy to be a firefighter so we can lift people up over our shoulders and carry them down ladders or pull them out of a burning building.

It Hurts Like The Dickins!

This hurts really bad. I scratched it on the cement and it took a whole chunk out. It hurt as much as if a beaver bit your finger.

I howled.

I had to get big bandaids put on. I didn't go to the doctor, but I had medicine. It hurt.

Bluebell

This is our new cat, Bluebell. She is very friendly. She does not bite. She does not scratch. She follows me around.

This is Bluebell's cat house. It took a long time for me to build it. It probably took 20 nails. Not all of it is nailed, though. It has lots of room for kittens and two cats. Bluebell hasn't seen it yet because we have to keep her in the garage until she gets used to her new home with us.
.
Zane likes to pull Bluebell's hair. He loves things that move. He is very interested in animals.

Fire Trucks and Fall Fair Stuff and Parade Stuff

On Saturday there was a parade. I decorated my bike and then I rode in the parade. My brother, Kobe, did too.

At the town hall, where the fall fair was going on, there was a fire crew. I got to spray the water on the road through a hole in a pallet. I had to move an air tank and crawl through a pipe. I had to drag a hose closer to the fire truck and then I had to spray water through the hole in the pallet. Then I had to bring a doll and drag it back to safety. It was a fun obstacle course!

I put some projects in the fall fair. I put 16 thing in. I liked doing the lego. I got a a ribbon for each project. I got the most points for my age group so I got a big ribbon, some jelly beans and $20. It was very exciting!

Shooting Elastics

I have a wooden board about the size of a ruler. I have a long elastic that I stretch over the top. Then I slide my finger up all the way to the top and the elastic zips off and shoots whatever I aim for.

Kobe is using a book with a hard cover and he slips an elastic on the top and puts his finger up and off it goes. He can't aim.

Mom makes us go in separate rooms so that we don't take each others' eye out.

I'm going to see if mom has any sunglasses so that we can have a shooting war without shooting anybody's eye out.

This is a pond that is near our home. It is by a mountain. Those sticks are a beaver dam.

I find that beavers are very interesting. We read a book about a beaver once. It was called The Adventures of Jerry Muskrat and the beaver in it was called cousin Paddy Beaver.

But I have my own story to tell...

Once upon a time there was a beaver called cousin Paddy Beaver. The beaver's cousin was Jerry Muskrat. The beaver was making a dam when his cousin came along to help. The beaver built the dam about 10 feet high, which was touching the top of a bridge. The beaver dam was being built under a bridge. While they were making the dam, somebody was having a picnic at a beach at a river. The river floated into the creek that the dam was on.

The beaver and the muskrat were very tired. They went to bed.

Now it's morning. The muskrat and the beaver went down to the dam and ate sandwiches for breakfast. The sandwiches from the picnic had fallen into the water. The sandwiches had gotten stuck in the dam. The beaver pulled the sandwiches out for breakfast.

The people from the picnic came to look for the sandwiches and they were all eaten up.

The end.

The same day we saw the dam, we had brought a quad in the back of our truck. We unloaded it out of our truck and drove it through this river that I'm throwing a rock into. Up the river there was a corner and that's where we crossed with the quad. It was very fun. I liked it.

Coastguard Lego And More

This is my coastguard helicopter and my coastguard boat. The things that are inside are a winch, the cab (where the guys sit that you can see through the window), the storage area in the very back and room for passengers. By the door is where the stretcher is.

Inside the boat is where tubes and flippers go.

This morning my brother, Kobe, was playing with my helicopter. He said to my mom, "See the happy guy inside? That's me. See the grumpy guy inside? That's Dylan."

My brother, Kobe, has a truck and a trailer for his seadoo to go on. They are coastguards too. The coastguard boat that goes with my helicopter will fit on his trailer. And my brother has a coastguard quad.

I asked my mom to get me the coastguard ship someday.

Mischief

At 8:00 one day, Kobe and I got into icing sugar.
.
We spread it in a pile and then we got our lego trucks wet in an ice cream bucket and drove through the pile with our tires all wet. The icing sugar stuck to our tires and we drove them all over the room in circles.
.
.
When we were done, there were tracks of icing sugar all over the place.
.
.
Mom came downstairs and she was mad. We had to clean it up.
.
We won't be doing that again.

Going to Disneyland and California Adventure

I rode on the roller coaster at California Adventure and then went on Splash Mountain in Disneyland.

We went on Space Mountain, the bobsleds, It's A Small World, the Grizzly River Raft Run, Gadget's Go Coaster, Donald Duck's Ship, the train, the race cars, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Jungle Cruise, Mad Hatter's Tea Party, and Mickey's Fun Wheel. Mom was scared on that one because it swung back and forth, back and forth. We went to Honey, I Shrunk The Audience.

We saw Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Pluto, Eeyore, Pooh Bear, Tigger, Lightening McQueen, Mator, Peter Pan and Cinderella.

My favourite ride was the roller coaster. It goes upside-down, fast and tips over on it's side. Dad said it goes 0 - 100 kms/hr in 4 seconds. It pushed me back in my seat. Dad didn't want to go on it, but I talked him into it.

Going Home

We were sick so we left Mexico early. It was not fun to be sick. I got a needle to help me get better faster.

When we were in Mexico we saw circus animals being pulled in trailers behind trucks. We saw zebras, giraffes, tigers and camels. We saw a circus tent.

We wento to Noah's birthday party at Peter Piper Pizza. There were all sorts of games. You could look into binoculars at a show, play air hockey, basketball and bowling. We got tickets for playing the games. You could trade tickets for prizes. I didn't use my tickets and then when we got to Disneyland, I looked and my tickets were washed in the laundry and scumpled up.

At the birthday party we had a pinata.

We saw houses that were made with tar paper. I felt bad for the children that lived there.

We had fun crossing the border. We got to see the Mexican army. They looked in our vehicle to make sure there was no dangerous stuff. The army helps the police. We saw some tanks.

Then we were heading on our way to Disneyland.

In Hermosillo in Mexico

We finally got to Hermosillo on Monday. We had so much fun. It took a long time driving. We stayed at 5 different hotels.

At the grocery store, I met a little boy. He asked me what my name was. I said, "Dylan". He asked me if I liked dinosaurs and I said yes. He asked me where I was from and I said Canada. I kind of remember his name, but it was a name that I thought was silly.

The weather is hot. It has been 40c.

We have met 2 missionary families. One has a 6-year-old boy and the other has a 5-year-old boy that turns 6 tomorrow. We are going to his birthday party.

I spoke Spanish on the telephone to Mr. Neufeld:
I said, "Hola."
He asked if my dad was there.
I said, "Si. Uno momento."
It was fun!

Day 4 Driving

We left Utah today and went into Arizona. It was hot. I touched a cactus while Mom took a picture.

We saw a dam and we saw a spring of water spraying up. I asked to go over across the dam. He said we're not allowed.

I liked the Grand Canyon. The view was perfect. God did a good job!

Day 3 Driving

By this sign it was a very busy highway.

In Utah there were 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 lane highways that we saw.

I saw overpasses and there were so many very close to each other and going around and up and all around. After we passed the overpasses, I said to Mom that I thought that those overpasses were 'Overpass World'.

I took 70 pictures of big trucks.

We saw a motorcylce. Motorcycles are Kobe's and Zane's and my favourite.

This is the USA flag. When the wind blew it the right way I took a pictures. We saw lots of American flags.

We saw some little holes in the rocks that animals had made to be safe. We also saw caves that were little.

Day 2 Driving

This is the truck we saw in our hotel yesterday morning when we were having breakfast. I showed Mom and she thought it was nice.

This was something I've never seen before. It's the borderline going to the USA. I took lots of pictures. We had to get our passports out so the guy could see them. He asked us where we were going and we said, "Mexico."

When Mom showed me this sign, I was so interested in what rattlesnakes were like. I've never seen one. I tried to look all over in the grass, but couldn't see any.

I had been waiting for the Idaho sign so I could take a picture of it. I didn't know that the Americans used miles instead of kilometres. My brother was kind of an American. He said 'ruf' instead of 'roof'.

Mom and Dad said we were good travellers.

Grannie & Papa - I have a big-truck picture to email you.

Day 1 Driving

Zane had gotten bored of driving and Daddy took an empty water bottle and he put pennies in it for a rattle to keep Zane interested.

Then the deal was that me and Kobe had to drink our water and I drank mine and Kobe wanted help. Mom took an old bottle of water - a quarter full - and she dumped it out and all the water went onto Kobe's window and Kobe thought it was raining.

Mom put some pennies in the bottle for Kobe and Mom put pennies in mine. Soon we were making such a racket that when Dad was driving, he plugged his ears! I think Zane thought it was funny. I did think it was funny!

After a few hours Mom gave me her old camera. I took around 50 pictures and some of them I didn't like so I erased them and took more.

This bridge I tried to take a picture of earlier, but I didn't get good ones so I erased them. Then we turned around a corner and then I saw the bridge and I took the picture.

Bobbie Jo - I have 2 semi-truck pictures for D. I will get Mom to email them to you for D.

Getting Ready For Mexico

We are leaving for Mexico tomorrow and we are going to the Grand Canyon first.

Today I went to the bank to get some United States money so that we can exchange it into Mexican pesos.

Today I woke up and remembered that tomorrow we are going to Mexico. I went through my drawers and searched through all my t-shirts and searched for all my shorts and all of my socks and my jammies and underwear and then I stopped and I went to tell Mom that I had gotten that stuff and that I was ready - even though we weren't going to Mexico today. I knew that Mom had to find some Crocs for my two brothers and had to pack their stuff.

I am excited that we are going to some place hot and going to have fun.
